What the lab does
California Structural Algorithms Labs is the research division of CASA. It studies how AI can take on real work in construction and infrastructure, and how to do that safely inside environments operators control.
The lab does research only. Its questions come from real field problems, and its methods and findings are meant to be public, so others can check the work and build on it.

Research that runs where the data lives
Many construction and infrastructure operators cannot send operational data to public AI services. The constraint is contractual, regulatory, and competitive. The lab will treat it as a research requirement from the first day of a study.
- Data stays put. The systems we study will run on infrastructure the operator owns, on-premise or in a private cloud the operator controls.
- No public AI exposure. Operational data used in a study will not be sent to third-party AI platforms.
- No black boxes. Methods, evaluations, and audit trails will be open to inspection.
- The system stays with the operator. Anything deployed in an operator’s environment will stay there when a study ends.
